problems with tracks edited in another program
« on: October 07, 2002, 01:10:20 am »

If I edit a track from say 2mins to 1 min in another program the track time in playing now stays at 2 mins even though if you play it the player shows the new time of 1 min.
It seems I have to delete the track from the media library and them re-import it for the correct length to be shown in "playing now". Is this correct cos it's a bit of a pain if so.

Yes, this would be correct. MJ doesn't know the difference automatically. To reflect the changes you would have to do what you mentioned.

Well you can use File -> Library -> Update Library, which will go through the database and correct the Library with information from the File Tags themselves.  This would do what you wish.

Only problem with this (and no-one ever explained why) is that you have to do it for the entire database.
You can't select some files and just have those database entries updated - you have to do the lot.

I asked and asked but never a response - it must be trickier than you would think.
