Mj crashes when paused for a few minutes
« on: October 02, 2002, 08:51:11 am »

How come that MJ doesn't handle "pause".

If I pause my player for a little while, it most certainly will crash.

Why does it do that. How can I fix it?

1) pls state the version of MJ that you are running, plus your system info (find system info under "help", "system info")

2) choose a subject line that is more meaningful thatn "annoying" if you want speedy help, for instance
"Mj crashes when paused for x minutes"

I personally don't know of any known bug like the one you describe.

Make sure you have the latest version of MJ, and eventually try a uninstall, reboot and reinstall.

What sound card do you have?

What kind of files are you playing?

I want to jump in here, and say I'm having the same kinds of problems. If I pause MJ for some period, when I try and restart it, the song will play for a couple of seconds, then it just locks. I'm running 8.0.372, on XP. (Is it an XP thing?)

Most days, I will pause and play repeatedly through the day, and rare is the day MJ doesn't blow up at least once. Some days, I only have to pause and play once.

And btw, I'm playing primarily cd's, so I don't think the media type is of consequence.

System info:
Media Jukebox  8.0.372
Install Path: C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 1795 MHz MMX
Memory: Total - 522 MB, Free - 193 MB
OS: Microsoft Windows XP  Workstation 5.1 Service Pack 1 (Build 2600)

Internet Explorer: 6.0.2800.1106
ComCtl32.dll: 6.00.2800.1106
Shlwapi.dll: 6.00.2800.1106
Shell32.dll: 6.00.2800.1106
wnaspi32.dll: N/A

Thanks,

Dave

In settings/options, does it make a difference if you switch playback between wave out and direct sound?
