Install fails to install a file error
« on: August 25, 2005, 03:23:25 pm »

This problem has existed for a number of builds but it has never been addressed by anybody at JRiver. Is it a bug? Is it a problem with my machine? What is it?

MC plays along fine, hours, days sometimes, and then suddenly bang and it closes itself with this message:

Try installing again and rebooting before you use MC.

Great. Back to the old reboot after you install MC that we used to have to do and I guess will always need to do. If we need to do it, it would be nice to have a message to inform the user of that.

Nobody else has ever gotten this message??

A few weeks ago, we changed what we do at the end of the install.  If MC has a critical piece it needs to update, it asks to reboot.  If the change is minor enough that we think it can wait, that's what MC does, and the changes get made on the next reboot.

But something isn't right about what you're seeing.  We'll see if other people are experiencing the same thing.

Jim, your logic seems correct. However, my computer always stays on and never reboots unless I have to so I guess that's why I'm seeing this error. Others probably reboot more often or shut their machine off at night so they won't see this.
