Synchronization issue (iRiver H140)
« on: August 29, 2005, 05:25:40 pm »

Hello Steve,

While synchronizing MC11.0.309 smartlists to iRiver H140, I have noticed some of my tracks  don't get removed from the transfer queue even so they are already on the player. So MC keeps sending the files over and over again during every sychronization despite they have been no changes to the files/tags on the computer in the meantime.

Just to test this issue I have picked an album with 19 MP3 tracks. Two of the files get transfered to the player every time I do smartlist synching. I have tried the following with no success:
- compared the tags of the two tracks in question to the rest of the album
- deleted the id3v1 and v2 tags and updated the tags from the library (in MC11)
- repeated the above with a 3rd party software
- updated filenames from from tags

Whould you have any idea why this strange behaviour?

Thank you!

Alex,

Try right clicking on the device and have MC rebuild the database file on the device. If that does not fix it, email me one of the files.

Steve,

rebiulding the database file doesn't help. As soon as I re-connect the player to MC, it sends the files over again. I am sending you one of the tracks. It would be the same track I reported in a different topic about id3v1/playlists.

Regards,

Steve,

while preparing an email, I think I have got to the root of the problem.  The composer field (which is not normally shown on my screen)  had special characters like "ü". After removing those characters the synchronization works perferctly.

I am not sure how I missed it when I was removing the tags earlier this week  :(.  Anyway, I will check and correcting my remaining "problem" tracks later this week.

Pls. consider this closed and sorry for disturbing.

Thank you
