The Vanishing Voume Slider
« on: September 30, 2002, 01:14:10 am »

The Problem: My volume slider has up and vanished!  It was working fine, and now I can't figure out how to bring it back!

The Over-All Assesment:  GREAT PRODUCT!  No, I'm not jokin'.  The functionality and "adjustability" of this software is unparalleled.  Even if I can't get this Volume Slider fixed, I'll still use it as my main jukebox.

The System: I'm running Win2K and Jukebox 8.0.  And yes, all my drivers, OS, MJ8, and EVERYTHING is updated.

                                  PLEASE HELP!!!

Try turning off the Skins, under Settings- Skin Manager.
See if it makes a difference.

Yeah... so, I tried reinstalling my sound driver (SB Live Platinum) AND disabled my skins.  Still no Volume Slider.  Any more suggestions?  I hope I don't have to reinstall and update MJ8 again as I have a VERY s-l-o-w 28.8 connection.

HELP!!   :'(

Make sure that in Control Panel -> Sounds the SB Live is the preferred device, then try different MJ Playback Output settings.  You should restart MJ between setting changes.

Thanks for the response, but I'm afraid that that didn't work either.  I tried every possible combination.

I ran into this some time ago.  In this thread, I found something that worked for me.  Here's the link to the thread:

And here's a copy of my post from there, on this subject:

"In options/playback/output device/ make sure the device selected is 'Wave mapper...' and NOT the actual soundcard. That should make the volume slider come back."

That worked with 8.0.157 beta; I haven't tried it with the current release.

nope... thanks for the time in your reply, but alas... that didn't work either.  I'll just reinstall MJ8 and update it again.

But hey- hopefully I've helped you MJ developers find a glitch to work on.  ;D  Thanks for your input everyone... this community is refining and developing the best music/media piece of software I have ever seen.  Okay, Later.

I don't think this one is an MJ issue.  I believe it's at the driver or OS level.
