ID Tag Version ?
« on: September 18, 2005, 01:58:29 pm »

What ID Tag Version is MC using?  My car reads mp3 files and the manual says it reads 1.0, 1.1, 2.2 and 2.3 tags, but the car player does not show any tag info.

If MC (by default) uses a different tagging version, can MC be changed to use one of versions listed above?

Would that explain why some of my imported AAC files come up with empty genres?  For instance, any track that has a "custom" genre such as "Adult Alternative" or "Boogie Rock".  Does iTunes use id3v2.4?

Once I studied the car manual more, I see that the normal mode is to display the filename.mp3   I found the button that does display the tag info.

I wish the tag info was first, but I guess the average user is lucky to burn a cd, let alone fill in the tags.

We all can... but most people have other skills.  So I guess if I were the car company, I'd choose filename over tags for display.  I have to burn them as "[TRACK #] [NAME]" so they sort right too.  They sort alphabetically and not by track number in the tags.

But over all the car display is cool.  I can get a list of all the CD in the changer and a list of all the tracks on the album.  Mp3 disks are okay, I put albums of tracks in folders, and the folders are "album names".

But then I remember why I rejected mp3 for ape in the first place (besides sound quality), the gap I hear when tracks change.  No problem with most studio albums, but live and Pink Floyd albums, the gap is unacceptable.  "This just won't do..."
