ITunes/QT Hijacking...
« on: October 31, 2005, 09:04:37 am »

I've recently installed the latest version of ITunes.
When I try and play wav files or .Mov files now
it loads Qtime.  I can't work out how to get it to stop.
I removed the add on from IE tools menu, but
no go.  I asked MC to reclaim all associations... but
no go...  >:(

any ideas?
Cheers
Chris

Turn off the file associations in Quicktime and in iTunes.

Cheers thats improved things.  If i open a file directly
it now uses MC again :-)
However If I open a file from a web page, (WAV,MP3, etc)
it trys to use the quicktime plugin, playing on the webpage instead
of giving me the option to download/open.
I've unticked just about everything i can see?

In Explorer: Tools menu -> Folder Options -> File Types tab. Scroll down to the wav and mp3 entries and click Advanced. Check the "Confirm Open after Download" checkbox. If there is no Advanced check box, click the restore button. You'll have to restore your file associations to MC after this.
