11.1 Transcode Tagging
« on: November 01, 2005, 09:28:58 am »

I know we've been down this road before, but...

I transcoded a few APE files to MP3 and sent them to a local drive.
There is a lot of extra info included in the tags of the MP3s that are not there in the original APE.

One of the additional comment fields holds incorrect data.
The compression of an MP3 can't be 3.99 Normal, that is the source APE.

Finally, there 154 characters of (in my opinion) useful info.
There are 566 characters of (in my opinion) unwanted info.
Its unlikely that any of this extra info is going to be needed by other apps, and if it is then it would probably be more useful in "standard" tags where other apps/devices might think to look for it.

Could also be a good time to look at the new additions to the ID3V2 family. Chapter Frames. Think podcasts.
