Problem downloading skins and plug-ins

Ive recently downloaded the trial version of 11.1.188, most of everything seems to be running fine, except, the home page. I've tried to download some skins and the directx host without any luck...it downloaded the mp3 decoder without fail. is there a setting i have configured wrong?
