LAME.EXE Encoder Causing Crashing
« on: September 27, 2002, 11:39:29 am »

Whenever I try to encode large .WAV files (375MB) the LAME.EXE crashes in Win98SE.

I noticed that other Windows applicatiions on the market use lame_enc.dll instead.

Is there a way to get MJ to use the dll instead of LAME.EXE which is a DOS program.

If you use MJ out of the box, then it will use the dll. Only if you use it's external encoder option will it use the exe. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

If you look in the MJ plug-ins folder, you will see the file LAME.EXE and no lame_enc.dll.

Also, the errors I normally receive include WINOLDAP errors which indicate a DOS program is running in windows.

Yes, MJ uses the exe file. We used to use the dll but found it to be slower and didn't have all the equivalent command line options that users demanded.
