BURNing problem
« on: September 28, 2002, 09:12:44 am »

Great product! I love the built-in flexibility all over the place.

I am having BURNing problems, however  :o. Frequent buffer underruns on a drive that has hardware underrun protection!  :-[

A bit of data:
System: Windows XP Professional
Computer: Athlon XP 1900+, 512Mb RAM, ASUS V266E Motherboard
Software: Media Jukebox 8.0.336 (demo)
CD-Writer: Iomega "CDRW9600INT-B"
Write speed: 24x (underrun just about contained if I reduce this to 8x - but hey, this is a fast system)

If I use NERO to burn the same files, it explicitly engages the hardware underrun, and then burns like a demon. I note that the Goldenhawk drive equivalence table equates my Iomega drive to a Sanyo 24/10/40, but my supplier says its actually a Plextor - could this be the problem?

MJ should always activate the burn-proof option. One thing is to try the "use generic driver" option and see if it burns at full speed using that setting. If so, there's probably a bug in the non-generic driver that we can address (but it takes time).
