Library Restore question
« on: November 21, 2005, 10:13:57 pm »

I'm trying to recover some lost image tags (oh how I wish the tags could be saved in the files!! :'( ), but when I use Library Restore, it wipes my Last Played info, which is annoying me.  So I thought I'd cleverly drop the 'field (last played).jmd' file from my most recent backup into the (earlier) backup I wanted to restore from, but MC has outwitted me and somehow maintains the old info...

Anyone know why this happens and if there's anything I can do to resolve my problem?

are you certain MC is closed when you copy your file?
I just tried this, comparing the results of this smartlist:

mt=audio ~sort=[last played]-d ~n=10

and they were very different indeed.

I meant in a format that other applications can use (eg. Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, InDesign, Portfolio, etc, etc, etc).

Don't get me wrong, I know where the blame lies.

Actually, I was dropping the file from one Backup to another.  I guess from your question that you copied the file from the Backup straight into the MC Library folder in Documents and Settings; much cleverer, and it does work, cheers!  ;D

Jim, any chance of this being extended to TIFs?  That way, at least there would be one format which supported Layers and Lossless compression that MC could tag permanently..  :)

We plan to at least look at adding TIFF tag support in the future.  Right now, MC reads them.
