11.1.77 (12/9/05)

1. Changed: "Files" now the first button in the button row of library views.
2. Optimized: Some optimizations to JPEG / thumbnail loading engine.
3. Optimized: Library browser style views now build missing thumbnails in background threads and update after they're built.
4. Optimized: Library browser style views operate many times faster. (scrolling, selection, etc.)
5. Optimized: Added a thumbnail caching layer that improves performance in all views with thumbnails. (library, image lists, Theater View, etc.)
6. Optimized: MC does more aggressive memory flushing on minimize to be as light-weight as possible when playing in the background.
7. Optimized: Improved data path for thumbnail drawing in image style lists, increasing overall drawing performance.
8. Changed: Reworked thumbnail storage format to provide sharp images with less memory usage and greater speed. (sorry, thumbnails will need to be rebuilt)

11.1.76 (12/9/05)

1. NEW: Library views allow graphical album, artist, etc. lists to be shown at the same time as file lists.
2. Changed: Further tuning of library view navigation.
3. Fixed: When starting a fullscreen video / slideshow from a library browser tile, the focus wouldn't shift to the display. (so shortcuts, etc. wouldn't work as expected)
4. Fixed: Seeking is now disabled on music from Library Server when it is converted on the fly.
5. Fixed: Library Browser views weren't supporting typed-navigation properly.
6. Changed: Removed status line from Library Browser views. (animated status may appear in general status bar someday)

4. Changed: Added "Reset All View Schemes To Default" to the Edit menu.
5. Changed: Tagging with the panes will only ask for confirmation on drop. (not on edit or tagging mode check)
6. Changed: "Album Artist" and "Album Artist (auto)" show as simply "Artist" in view scheme displays.

Nice.

Issue: It seems that if you set it to "Show files at bottom", the List Style tabs only work if you make sure the 'bottom' is in focus. This doesn't really seem necessary (as List style doesn't apply to the top part anyway).

Requests: I like the way placeholders are used showing the name of whatever field you're looking at if you don't have coverart. Please allow the words to be displayed spannning multiple lines (the thumbnail is rather large, so otherwise it's just wasted space and a lot of the time you canonly see part of the display)

It's been mentioned before, but customisability of thumbnail size (ideally with a slider) and fonts would be fantastic.

• Sometimes,  in the tile view, with the file list visible, you cant click on the up/down arrow to make it hide. Click on one of the breadcrumbs or buttons on the top bar and then it works again.
• Just been playing an album and MC doesnt seem to be writing info to the tags. I have played 5 songs and the message in the status bar is hung saying "saving tag changes (5 remaining)

I think a got a bug:

Use the new Media Browser and select Genres from the drop-down.
Select a Genre and click on the 'play'-option.
Then stop the player.
If you start the player again it plays the whole library.

It seems that tagging any song in Playing Now (with one of the songs playing) is not going ok.
Files seem to be locked by MC.
Stopping the play does not updated the files.
When exiting MC a message is shown that the file could not be updated becuase it is locked or read-only.
After starting MC the tag is updated anyway.

Using [dimensions] in the thumbnail text (customise current view) results in:

I've set keywords for commonly used library fields. I used lp= for [last played] and fnp= for [file name (path)] for example.
If I type fnp=dylan into the search bar, when MC converts this to "friendly view" it displays it as "playlist: p=dylan"
It does this wherever I've used the letter p in the keyword.

Closing MC while minimised causes it to forget that it was a maximised window. When next started, MC opens in a 'restored' window.

I can't tie it down just yet, but I'm repeatedly seeing MC11.exe and media center.exe left running in the task manager after closing MC using "C:\WINDOWS\system32\MC11.exe /power"
This happened during v11's beta run too, and I 'fixed' it then by adding MC11.exe to NOD32's exclusion list. MC11.exe is still in that exclusion list, but this one has reared its head once more.
this seems to be gone, for now at least. if I don't see it by the time I post the buglist again, I will drop this entry.

what's the official line on this one? I'm not sure how others feel, but it feels uncomfortable to me and constantly interupts my workflow requiring me to scroll away down to the bottom of the list to find that blank bit to click in to get to the "none selected" state.

Status bar irritations.
I often rate a song that's playing while I'm working with MC, or perhaps i'll correct a tagging error I've spotted on the currently playing track. The problem then is that the status bar hangs on "saving tags.. 1 remaining" and then on "done saving tag changes"
This means the usual information in the status bar is not visible. Is there any way that the tag saving status can be seperated, perhaps placing it in the far right of the status bar, allowing the usual status info to always be displayed?
If it's do-able, it would be a most welcome update at this end.

this tagging error/locked files issue is not ever present. I need to watch it some more, but it would appear that something in the library browser area is breaking it, causing the errors. untill you get there, everything appears to be normal.

I can't play music remotely at all using MC to connect to the Media Server now. It was working before, but I'm not sure which version it stopped working in.

I tried first with .76, and it wouldn't work, so I tried .77, both client and server.

Any file I try to play remotely, it says:

Media Center encountered errors while trying to play the last several files.
Please make sure the path in your media library points to the right location.

A sample path is:

m01p://192.168.2.200:1980/D:\My Documents\My Music\ATB\Addicted To Music\09 - Sunset Girl.mp3

Obviously it's happily downloading the library, just won't play anything...

In Library Browser if I switch to Video mode then select Files, MC will immediately exit every time. My videos are all wmv and avi. MC 11.1.77

using 11.1.77;

1. scrolling down the new library browser causes MC to crash. only happens in Albums mode. happens consistently; when i get around 75% thru my collection of around 700 albums. happens only when using the mouse wheel or clicking the scroll bar (i.e. not when using the keyboard)

2. using the keyboard cursor keys to go up and down the entries in the new library browser doesn't re-draw the list properly as the list scrolls upwards/downwards.

i've erased and rebuilt thumbnails. using/displaying thumbnails in Files mode works fine.

edit: does happen in artist & genre modes as well, tho not as consistent; possibly depends on the image it's trying to display?

After a song ends being played the lock is not removed, therefore tagging changes stay queued.

I have seen the same problem with the lock not being removed.
Also causes teh following symtoms:

Is there a way to have the album cover, the name of the album AND the name of the band diplayed at the same time ?
