Album Tag for Podcast should be empty
« on: December 17, 2005, 09:40:10 am »

Why is the album tag filled with the date? The dat is already in the date field, which is logical.
Each time a pdcast is downloaded I have an extra album which I do not like to see. Now I am removing the content for each downlaod manually.

Something tells me this can be done in an more effective way: not filling the tag in the first place.

Or is there a special reason why it is put in there?

It's kind of handy on the iPod. No?

Yes.

What would you say if the name field was a concatination of "Date" & "Name"?

Would that solve both our 'bugs'?

I like it for two reasons:

1)  My DAP places the Album metadata prominently in the display so I can easily see what podcast I'm playing.
2)  It allows me to group all podcasts for a single date in a way that seems to be an album for me.  Yes, I could use the date tag to do the same thing, but for me it really is an album (i.e. a collection of related items) - even if it isn't by the same artist.
