bitperfect / 24bit processing question

Hi

my goal is to get bit-perfect playback with as few as possible influence on the signal by Mediacenter. Therefor, I am using ASIO-drivers for my firewire-connected RME FireFace AD/DA (capable of 24/192).
I read in the forum, that internally, MC works with 32bit.
I also saw an option in the DSP section "same bitdepth / same sampling rate like the original signal" that you could change to different bitdepths and sampling rates. I left that whole section unchecked to avoid any influence.

- where does that 32bit-processing from MC kick in? Is it used with ASIO-playback from ripped CDs?
- Talking about bitperfect playback with ASIO-drivers: where are (eventually hidden) options, that I need to check/clear to ensure that?
- What are the pro's or con's to use the DSP-option and choose 24bit and/or 88.2 or higher sample rates for ripped CD's - in other words "upsample" the signal?

The internal digital signal processing is used whenever MC alters the signal somehow.

At least these options need to be disabled for bit perfect output: everything in DSP Studio, Internal Volume (maxed out = bit perfect), Cross-fade and Do not play silence (leading and trailing).

I have used 24-bit output when any internal DSP is enabled. At least in theory it gives more headroom than 16-bit.

Changing the sample rate does does not increase the audio quality. An exception is if the soundcard always resamples 44.1 kHz to 48 kHz and uses a mediocre HW upsampling. Then 48 kHz should be used.
