22050 Hz sample rate
« on: January 09, 2006, 12:23:43 am »

Whenever I try to play Tech Podcast it says, “The ASIO device (Creative ASIO) does not support a sample rate of 22050 Hz” The other podcast play fine.

Some possible solutions:

- Try this ASIO driver: ASIO4ALL

- Set sample rate to 44.1 kHz (or higher) in DSP studio.

(BTW, you didn't mention what Creative model you have, but most Creative sound cards resample always to 48 kHz in hardware so it may be advantageous to set MC's output to 48 kHz permanently. The difference is naturally not audible with podcats, but it may be with high quality music files. I have a laptop that always resamples its S/PDIF output to 48 kHz. The software resampler in MC produces clearly better audio quality with standard 44.1 kHz music files. The resampler uses some processing power, but that has not been a problem so far.)

- Use Direct Sound or Wave Out instead of ASIO.

It’s an x-fi  platinum using creative ASIO 2.0. Changing from source sample rate to 44.1 hz in DSP studio solved the problem. Not sure how as the x-fi is not supposed to up sample in audio creation mode. Nonetheless it works now :)
