I am trying to sync my handheld (iPod 4g) ratings back to MC in order to drive my playlists back on the handheld (semi-dynamic playlists ).

It appears that TWO full syncs are required to accomplish this task, which is different than I recall from earliers versions of MC.

1.  Sync 1 does bring new ratings info into MC
2.  The new ratings info does affect the reatings-based playlists in MC, but NOT on handheld
3.  Sync 2 appears to send updated playlist info back to the handheld.

Perhaps I am seeing a different issue.  Any advice??

Ratings will come back from the iPod on connect, not sync. (assuming you have this turned on in options)

Clicking sync will then analyze your smartlists and playlists and send any changes.

It should be basically a one step, one click solution.

I have the same problem on my iPod nano.

It doesn't seem to update the Smartlists on the iPod unless I change/remove/add a file for syncing
