~fill
« on: January 26, 2006, 05:04:55 pm »

So how does the parameter ~fill exactly work ?

I tried to use this in a smartlist but it always gave me the same results.

I tried like mentioned in the release notes of 11.1.38:

~fill=[Ipod Benny]

where Ipod Benny is the name of my iPod device but it still shows all files in my library.

Any feedback would be welcome.

thx

Excuse the ignorance; exactly what does "~fill" represent and what is the usage??  I do not see any reference in the Help file.

eg ~fill=[My Ipod]

Where My Ipod is the name of your Ipod (can be another device also, like a CD drive)

the fill parameter will calculate how much space is left on that device and show a list of files to "Fill" your device with a maximum of files that can fit on your device.

Hope this helps

I am not able to get this to work.  Regardless of what I put in the [] or what the state of my iPod is, I always get about 138Mb of files.  For example, this Smartlist:

-[Genre]=[Christmas] [Rating]=>=4 ~fill=[Apple iPod]

works just like this one:

-[Genre]=[Christmas] [Rating]=>=4 ~fill=[Banana iPod]

And no, I don't have a device named "Banana iPod".  Am I not using it right, or is it just not working?   ?

for me this is working, did you already try just using the fill parameter without any other parameters ?

~fill by itself is working differently, but still not correctly.  It's returning ~11Mb of files, although there's only 5Mb free on my iPod.  It also returns the same amount of data if I use "Banana iPod" instead of "Apple iPod".

If you give the name of an invalid device, it just uses the default device.
