I've been noticing this also for several builds. Same with MC11.exe. Don't know when it started and I can't really reproduce it at will.

Shutdown is fully logged (Help > Configure Debug Logging) so you should be able to use that to determine what MC is "working" on.

I also noticed this, and it's quite irritating. My guess is that MC updates thumbnail and library information after the GUI has been closed. This behaviour is quite irritating. Just give us poor stupid user a small window with some feedback, and everything will be cool ("Please wait, updating library and thumbnails" or something like that).

I don't think so cause it takes a lot of time in the proccess list, and often it doesnt close in the first place..

Pink Waters, you mean the MC task won't close at all sometimes? That's something i didn't see until now. On my system, the task will stay there some seconds (i'd say up to 30 s.) after the GUI window has been closed, but i didn't notice the task running longer, or staying "forever".

My situation is somewhat similar, but related to Firefox.
(1) when MC is minimized to the system tray and I close Firefox, MC autmatically opens/maximizes.

(2) if my MC crashes for whatever reason, 2 seconds later Firefox will crash.

It happens to me at both work and home.

thanks

I launch, and close, MC via a button on my taskbar. It sends the following when clicked upon:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\MC11.exe /power

I always close MC at the end of the day. So, this morning, I click to launch MC, but nothing happens. I figure I must have forgotten to close it last night, that it was still running, and I'd just closed it, so I clicked my button a second time. Still no MC.
I open the task manager, and I see this:

I force them all closed, and relaunch MC. The contents of the previous log are shown below. Are we any closer to understanding why this happens?

Previous Log.txt (19 kb, 135 lines)

It looks like either a handheld or a podcast is failing to shutdown properly.

Next build adds more logging to pin-point it.  It also adds hard-kill timeouts for handheld unloading.

Thanks for the log.
