Duplicating Cover Art
« on: February 14, 2006, 04:02:33 pm »

Lets say I have 10 songs in my library and it initially didn't find the album cover when loading but I found a copy and added it to my Cover Art directory.  Then I went back and hi-lited all 10 songs went to image-add from file and attached the cover to all songs.  Well, MC is duplicating the cover art 10 times in the cover at directory and attaching in front of the art cover name, the name of each artist.

It may depend on how you have MC configured to save cover art.

If it is not folder.jpg it will always save art for that file as [Artist] - [Album]

Not sure if it is still true but at one time it saved art as Multi Artist - [Album] or something like that.

Thanks for the help in the covery art problem.  Can you please direct me exactly on where to change this.  I'm not that quite familiar with the options.  I appreciate your help in this.

Thanks, Skylarplane

what is it set to now?

Access to the help file is here

Cover Art:

I think the cover art page in the help files is out of date, and should be updated soon.

Locate Rule:  Next to file [Artist] - [Album].jpg
Path:  (location of my Cover Art directory)
Store images in tage clicked on
Output location:  Directory where my music is stored
Directory Rule:  [Artist]\[Album]
File Name Rule: [Artist] - [Name}
Temporary location (My MediaJukeBox directory)

Which of these should be changed?
Thanks,
Skylar

Locate Rule:  Next to file [Artist] - [Album].jpg

with that setting you may see the multiple covers created when you have a CD with many artists.

folder.jpg may be a better choice

Then which area do I change it to 'what'?? so not to duplicate the cover art.  Which option in what field should it say.

If the "Album Artist (auto)" field shows a common artist name then MC uses only one image file for the album.

In any case, you could answer no to this prompt when linking a cover art image:
Code: [Select]
Would you like to copy this image to the cover art location you have specified in options?
Then MC would use the linked file from the original location without copying the file or changing the filename.

If you have previously answered yes and ticked this option in the same confirmation dialog:
Code: [Select]
Don't show this message again
you need reset this Windows registry key first:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 11\Properties\Confirm Add Art Copy Image

- change the key value from 1 to 0 if MC does not show the confirmation dialog.
