moving to new harddrive - what about covers?
« on: February 15, 2006, 11:41:12 am »

I've got myself a new hard disk (500 Gb) instead of three little ones (100 GB each). I've some spare Gigs now, but I'm also reorganising my files. Media Center finds every file without problem, it seems that the library hasn't changed, imported all media as before. However, since my cover art is assembled in the "Media Center Cover Art Folder" (and not next to the files), it does not show any cover art anymore. How can I restore this, instead of spending days again to get the covers right for each song/album?

Well, given that the naming structure hasn't changed and that MC is set to store the cover art in one particular cover art folder, this should work just fine.

Highlight all the songs in the library that you want to re associate with their cover art.
Right click and go to the "Image" submenu.
Click "Quick Find In File / Cover Art Directory"

That should fix your problem.

If not, reply and I'm sure someone may be able to help you further.

I've moved my files and cover-folder, left right up down, and indeed, your suggestion works allways. Again this proves the incredible strength of this program! And once again, this is the strongest forum I've ever seen. All of my (sometimes stupid) questions are answered, quick, efficiently and correct. THANKS TO ALL!

PS: is there somebody who knows how to mess around with visual studio expressions, to make my own visual presentations in MC even better ?

That, my friend, someone else will have to help with. That's one part of MC I have never touched before.

How would one go about moving the cover art from a single folder into the seperate album folders (i.e. changing from having the cover art stored in a single folder to having it stored "Next to" the files)?

Thanks,

Larry

Search for user "tabby".  He's the resident expert on visualizations.
