Download Manager
« on: September 22, 2002, 12:51:15 pm »

Hi--

I just started using the Download Manager and EMusic.

It worked fine for a spell and then just quit.

I'm still logged in to EMusic. My DSL is up.

It quit one download in midstream and left a bunch pending. When I tried to move on to the next track pending by clicking Download Now, it came back "failed."

Would appreciate some help. Tks.

Just a wild guess here.  Try logging out of emusic, rebooting and logging back in.

Right as usual, King Friday!
What JimH sez is the first course of action to take. HOWEVER, sometimes Download Manager gives a "failed" status to files that you already have but you didn't see the pop-up question box that asked if you wanted to overwrite, rename or abort. Try highlighting and retry download.

An aside suggestion:
Make that pop-up come up over whatever else you're doing. When you are downloading a lot of files, you have a tendency to start browsing elsewhere.

Do not put to much songs to download at once.
More than 4-5 hundreds can make Download Manager a little bit funny.

I had issues with this tonight too.  I found that 'Download whole album' sometimes results in a 'member not found' error from Download Manager.

After getting that error, I had to manually add files and click 'Download now'.

More info on the 'Member Not Found' error downloading albums from eMusic.

I have downloaded several albums from eMusic using the 'Download whole album' button.  Download manager did great.

This album always fails though:

Slide Five
     People, Places And Things
Travelogue
Hutch's 20-Minute
Affinity
Sisyphus
11 O'Clock...
Smoke Gets In My Eyes
KC Doppler
Polestar
Inhaler
What Comes Around
Streamline
Heavy Rotation
Space In Time

I always get a 'Member not found', and the files are not added to the queue.  Is the problem the file with the three periods?

And now I am having this exact problem:

bc: It quit one download in midstream and left a bunch pending. When I tried to move on to the next track pending by clicking Download Now, it came back "failed."

JimH: Just a wild guess here.  Try logging out of emusic, rebooting and logging back in.

Unfortunately, logging out and back in from eMusic doesn't solve the problem for me.
