Album Art in G-Force
« on: March 09, 2006, 08:07:36 pm »

Hey, I have been having trouble with album art displaying properly in G-Force ever since I upgraded to v11.1  I saw that this issue was addresed in build 11.1.141 so I have installed that but, I still get more blank black boxes and error messages (55101 - g-force says) than art.  I have done the 'rebuild thumbnails' option but, it has not made a difference.  Any thoughts?

Another thing:  Now the song info no longer shows up unless I tell g-force to show it everytime for each song.  This always used to work.  I have even reinstalled g-force to see if that would help but, it doen't.

Hmmm...
I've lost track of which g-force version I'm running here, but it's not the latest (tells me there's a new version available at startup) but whichever version I'm using, album art and track info are displaying just fine.

I'll update and report back in a few momentos....

K, done.

running version 3.1.3 and all is good. during install, I chose the 'overwrite existing files' option as I'm not an 'advanced' g-force user. I generally only tweak the full-screen size to stop the letterboxing, and also the time the coverart is displayed for.

So, something must be different at your end.
I guess the most obvious place to start is "where do you keep your coverart?
I keep mine in a central directory, not inside the files, and no 'folder.jpg's' either.
how about you?

well, one of the problems only shows up with ape files with cover art stored inside the file.
If you switch from g-force back to track info or MC visualisations the cover art is not loaded any more, the MC logo appears instead. Reported this to Matt, but he doesn't seem to be able to reproduce.

I also noticed that with the newest MC11.1 release, g-force help does not work any longer -> pressing "H" for help inside the display area does not work.

OK. Bug?

Here's how...

Open MC with playing now in view.
Start playback of a track. As soon as you have clicked on the play button, place the mouse inside the display window and do not move it.
wait for the gforce toolbar to load.
click once in the display. do not move the mouse, just one, single, left click.
now you should find that gforce has the keyboard:

now try moving the mouse, just a fraction. as soon as MC's display bar comes out of hiding, gforce loses the keyboard and doesn't get it back unless you stop playback and repeat the steps above.

I've been able to partly reproduce the 'coverart inside an .ape file' problem.
I can get gforce to lose the art, but then changing the display to album art correctly displays said album art.
I cannot, so far, get gforce to lose the art at will. sometimes it loses it, sometimes not. I'll play more later.

Try to reinstall the latest version of Quicktime. It fixed my coverart problems with G-Force.

OK, Thanks guys  Seems the Quicktime update has fixed the album art issue but, I still can't get track info to stay from song to song.  Any other thoughts.  The settings in g-force lookk right.
