Remove "Empty" Folders Enhancement Request
« on: March 14, 2006, 10:52:29 am »

I realize you guys are a little late in your development cycle here, but I'm hoping this is something that wouldn't be too hard to implement...

I've noticed that if you open a folder and view it's files from within Windows Explorer and are using thumbnail mode, then Windows creates a "thumb.db" file in the folder.

So when MC comes along, and moves all of the media files out of that folder, it still has "thumbs.db" in it and so MC doesn't delete the folder because it's not technically empty.

Is there anyway an option could be added to handle this case as well? So if MC cleans out a folder and detects that only "thumbs.db" is remaining, it will still delete the folder?

We've been meaning to do this for a while.

Look for it in the next build.

The same occurs if I have the folder.jpg next to the folder with the cover art.

Excellent news indeed, always wondered what the deal with this was.

Thanks

Does anyone have any ideas of a simple way to delete all empty folders.? I've done the "rename files from properties" thing so often I must have hundreds of empty folders scattered around.

you could try one of these...

http://techrepublic.com.com/5138-6240-728928
http://www.glaryutilities.com/emptyfolderfinder.htm

or you could use cmd.exe ...
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,805015,00.asp

and if none of those light your fire, you could try google:
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=delete+empty+folders

or you could ask kingsparta if he still has the little tool he put together for just this task.
