Is there a way to create a Windows shortcut that will open MC with a specific Smartlist playing (like '100 random songs')?

yes

create a new shortcut...

the target will be:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\MC11.exe /playreplace treepath=insert path to smartlist in MC's tree here

you may or may not need to enclose the path in quotes.

BTW, for those who may want to replicate this, here's the path I used (your path may vary...):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\MC11.exe /playreplace treepath="Playlists\Smartlists\100 Random Songs"
