using lappy to connect to server but

fast forward rewind in media center doesnt work, when using lappy toc onnect to server cant jump forward into the song also notice now all the songs have the the time where it starts but the ending time says live.. whats going on.. i use to be able to listen to music on lappy  and fast forward through songs

What is lappy and which server? (Library Server, Remote Server, UPnP Server, TiVo Server...)

lappy is a sony vaio laptop. and when i mentionede server i mean the main computer where is tore all files, i use media center on lappy then click on file library, search for media serers then it downloads all my info from server\main computer.. but when i play a song on lappy i cant fast forward or see th elenght of song for some reason now it say live for the ending time

Oh! That makes sense now, I thought it was a new UPnP device I hadn't heard of :)


Do you have conversion turned on (check the library settings on the laptop)...

If you are converting on the fly, seeking isn't going to work.

Sorry, but I don't watch TV (the TV in my house is hooked up to the DVD player, but has no antenna, cable or satellite hooked up :)

Plenty of others here do though...

sounds good thanx for the help! one last question i've always wondered about media center.. why when you convert songs, do they all become unplayable until you go to file  restore library.. is that normal? i been w\ media center since version 10 and since then everytime i convert my songs in my playlist (which are ape) to mp3 or wave, after its done converting the song a red X appears on that song and it becomes unplayable until a library restore..seeems strange!
