Since long i want to aks about it.

Look like quite a few free programs give the mp3 encoder and decoder.
Means they just do not pay Thompson.How can they do it? Some of them are 'old' programs here since few years and part of them are almost  well know .
Thompson just don't care about it? Hard to believe!

MusicMatch does not use cddb anymore.So which program it use ? FreeDB?

I believe that any program that uses the official Thompson encoder does pay the licensing fees.  I've read many times that Winamp has paid.  As for other encoders, such as LAME, I think Thompson has, for the moment, chosen not to enforce the licensing/patent fees, but could choose to do so at some point in the future.
