Just thought I'd share my experince solving a problem playing back CD's on my slave CD player w/Media Jukebox PLUS 8.0.370. I have 2HDs on IDE1 and a TDK VeloCD & Generic CD-ROM on IDE2.
When I would put a CD into the slave it would lock MJ at the "gathering information and updating view" window. I tried a variety of settings and nothing helped. I decided it wasn't likely MJ was the culprit since Windows Media Player and the basic CD player app that comes with WIN98 would all lock as well. It turned out that an old copy of Real Jukebox that I still had on my machine, even though set to not play CDs, and not associated with any file types, wouldn't let go. After I uninstalled it, and set MJ to not autoplay, windows prompted me that it couldn't find RJ to play CD's when they were inserted. That lead me to believe that RJ hadn't unnassociated as I had set it to, and even after it was unistalled WIN was still looking for RJ to play the CDs. I should'a known something was screwy when before all this Audio CDs in My Computer were displaying the RJ icon. I just didn't think anything of it, assuming it was a glitch related to some icon hacking that I did a while back. Low and behold once RJ was completely removed and I set MJ to autoplay CDs everything sorted itself out.
It was frustrating as hell though I gotta tell ya.
