Wishlist - Freeframe effect support
« on: June 27, 2006, 11:21:31 am »

Freeframe (http://freeframe.sourceforge.net/) is an Open Source standard for video effects plugins. It is mostly used for live video performance (what I do). It is well documented, free, and there are a ton of effects plugins that use it.

Wouldn't it be cool if MC12 let you define a chain of Freeframe effects to be added during video playback, or on top of visualizations?

You can tell MC to use any DirectShow filter for video playback.  So if they make a DirectShow filter, you could use that.

Different beast - Freeframe is an application-side plugin system. The video soft will generate video using Freeframe effects, and then hand it off to DirectShow.

It's a very easy architecture, and all open source.
