Something Broken In The Forum?

We've turned off private messages (at least temporarily).  They were used on another board to spread a virus.

How can they spread a virus? Attachments are not possible with PMs.

Do you mean that messages can contain internet links to malicious sites? I wouldn't click a link inside a PM from an unknown new user.

Yes, they had a link. Someone has developed a script to pm everyone on a SMF forum which also sends the message in a notification email.

I deleted it, may not be the same thing however.

That Reminds Me Of A Story (When I Was Much Younger)

Me And My Friend (I Forget His Name) Found A Boat Near The Shoreline It Was Sunk So We Got All the Water And Crabs Out Of It And Climbed In. We Had Two Ores We Found And Took the Rowboat Out For A Spin.

We Did Take The Buckets With Us (Good Thing) And Rowed Out Into The Bay. The Bad Thing Was The Tied Was Going Out And "Our Ship" Was Sinking. No Life Belts And Allot Of Rowing Got Us Farther From Shore (About A Mile). Lucky For Us About 5 Hours later Someone Came By And Towed Us To Shore.

We Had Fun None The Less, But Almost Killed Our Self Doing It.

Thats Water Under The Bridge Now, And 45 Or So Years Later.
