MC12 request
« on: August 10, 2006, 12:14:25 pm »

thanks for your awesome mediaplayer, i love it.
i will try MC12 today.
a little request : in explorer window, when i associate file with MC we can see (detail ) in type file : mediacenter file.
it could be nice if we can differenciate MP3 fille and video file :
like this : MP3 Mediacenter file or MPEG MediaCenter File.

sorry to post it in new topic but i can't reply in topic MC12 request.

nb: i will try if DVB-T is supported by MC12.......
thanks
Peace

it's interesting that this crops up every so often.

MC is actually a really competant file manager, as well as a collator.
I cannot remember when I last used explorer to work with media files that MC has a handle on.

Try to think of MC as an explorer replacement for your media files. Explore (no pun intended) the possibilities open to you via MC's internal "drives and devices" and "My computer" areas. Right click on an audio file, and look at the selection of library tools that you have at your disposal. Their names are pretty self-explanatory. Try to envisage what you could do with those. Remember, when you perform file operations using MC's tools, MC will maintain all the database links and information for those files.

If that doesn't appeal to you, either because you don't trust it, or perhaps it simply doesn't fit with your workflow requirements, then I think you may be better working out an alternative solution, the 'mediacenter file' type has been around for as long as I remember, despite numerous requests similar to yours over the years.

I can't comment regarding the sleeptimer plugin as I've never used it.

Sorry, but DVB-T is still work in (slow) progress. You will not see it yet. I hope I can get it before beta ends, but no promise.

marko, when i use MC : drives and devices" and "My computer" areas
MC is very very slow.....i don't understand why....
i have three drives (120 g, 160 g and 250 G) i have XP sp2 and 2 g RAM...
so it's not my pc i think
i have 150 g MP3 files and 230 g Video...
it simply doesn't fit with your workflow requirements...to use MC like an axplorer.
but for mp3 and video server i like this soft and for tv maybe in the futur thanks yao).

I have to agree. My machine spec is pretty high yet I just find this area of MC near unuseable.
It takes forever to navigate around my computer in MC to the point where it's pretty much useless.

thanks jim
i have no issue whith MC : it works fine :ripping, play tag....all fine
it' s only in "drives and device area" that MC is slow
i will try to desactivate my antivirus( F-SECURE) and test
But i can't always desactivate my antivirus becaus i am always connected to internet  and it's a little crazy to desactivate my antivirus when i navigate....

I have not enough post to try MC12 (it's cool i will wait ...it's hard but not choice) : i see in doof's screenshot that scheduler is integrated in MC12 it's cool... :D

nb : i know i am an apprenti...but i see in some post lines of code. Where in MC can be injected this line?

Thanks for your work

 If you must use explorer:

http://www.mutschler.de/mp3ext/MP3ext.html

Each mp3 will get an mp3 icon w/bitrate. It's Free. And there's lots more.

Keep the install file handy, you may have to reinstall it after an MC upgrade or reinstall, (MC likes to take back control and put the MC icon back sometimes!  ::))

1. How about that: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=26574.msg184249#msg184249

2.Split view panels state auto saving before exit needed.

Thank you for your great work!

Any hope of DVB-C within that same timeline?

One should always have hope. If I get DVB-T working I can look into DVB-C. But the chance is slimmer obviously.

Fair enough. Hopefully the interfaces of the BDA-drivers are similar enough  to make it relatively easy to add support also for DVB-C.
