How can I get Windows Explorer to stop showing WAV files Type as "Media Center" I want it to show WAV as was the case before installing MC11.
I already checked associations in the Control Panel\Folder Options. It does not show "Media Center" there.

This is really a nusience when trying to drag files to other programs, if there are converted files APE in the same folder with the same file name. Both show "Media Center" so explorer can't sort them by type.

In MC what do you have selected in 'Tools > Options > File Associations'?

That mostly was a solution. Now the WAV show as "Wave Sound" which is at least sortable. Thanks

If you do a custom install, you have the option to select MC file associations at that time.  Beyond that, it is a Windows issue.  MC is much nicer about file associations than any other program I've used.  While it does steal them if you do a no-option install, it is easy to fix and avoid.

respect to the guys at JR... I have never seen an application so cleanly remove their association with filetypes/revert to the previous associations...

I wholeheartedly agree--I am so fed up with Apple or Adobe apps that try to grab everything, and leave droppings when they're removed.  MC has always been very respectful of the host machine, AFAICT. 

As for the "file type" issue, I agree also.  You might try emailing Microsoft with your comments--given their sterling track record of responsiveness to customer concerns, I'm sure the next rev of windows will have this fixed.
