Is it possible to assign gapless playback to specific albums?

I've asked for an enhancement on a similar vein.

I would like gapless playback only across same album titles.   For example sometimes I load up complete albums interspersed with tracks from other albums, so I think it makes sense to have gapless between tracks from the same album but not those from different albums.

Maybe this will be an enhancement to version 12. The global approach now used by MC is a little too much when all I want is uninterrupted play for live performances only.

What exactly is interrupting you with other than live performances when the Gapless mode is enabled?

I use always plain Gapless (without the "Do not play silence" option). It plays files exactly like they were originally recorded (assuming the used file format supports gapless playback).

Or do you mean that you would like to use cross-fade with the other files?

I'm a simple man -- I always like cross-fades.

I was simple too and liked cross-fades when MJ8 was new to me. I guess I've changed to less simple since then...  I blame MC for that.  :)

I realize this is completely against God's Plan, but I made up a quiver of zones, each differently configured but outputting to the same destination.  That way I can easily bounce back and forth between ASIO, Wave Out, 5 sec buffer, 1 sec buffer, etc.  You could make a gapless and a crossfade zone, and be done wih it.

I just use gapless for everything.

You don't say what format your media files are in.

OK! Here's the deal. I'm dealing with a WAF on long car trips. I use a notebook computer for a jukebox, which we take with us when we travel.  I'm crusin' through the Smoky Mountains and my wife gets in the mood -  for John Denver. (She's on a Smoky Mountain High.) She selects a live performance CD and then complains of the interruption (Usually clapping)  with each track change. I can make her happy (and at my age, this is about the only way) by selecting the "gapless" box (Tools/Options/Playback). This seems to work just fine - for her. As for me, I like (need?)  a long pause between each track of non live performance tracks (takes time time to process the previous track) , which requires me to travel back to the Tools menu. I could use an audio editing program such as Goldwave to fix the problem with the live performance CD's but I was looking for something simple.

Options->Playback->Audio->Settings->Alternate Mode Settings

Set it to gapless there.

(this assumes you have less gapless albums than non-gapless albums, so gapless is the exception)

Leave the default to crossfade or a gap.

When you feel a gapless album coming up

Do an Alt+M

To go back to your default playback settings,  Alt+M again.

The point of software was i thought to make things easier.  Not having to switch between alternate playback modes is easier than having to.
