Every time I insert a CD into the drive, MJ does an auto lookup, my machine seems to freeze for 1 or 2 minutes.  Mouse won't even move.  This is on a very fast machine, too.  The hard disk light goes nuts (heavy activity I guess) during that time, then it eventually comes back with a CDDB lookup (well, sometimes it doesn't find my album, but that's another matter).  Other programs that do CDDB lookup don't have this awful latency, why does MJ ?

Shouldn't happen.  Could be a proxy problem.  CDDB has it's own settings for this in MJ.

What version of MJ?  Recent versions offer YADB as an alternative.

its locked several times on me too when I had w2k.  but somewhere it seems that MJ made yadb the default and I havent seen the problem since naturally...

I am running version 8.0.370.  I have tried both databases, same behavior.  I see 100% CPU with intense disk activity (on an Athlon 1800 system) for about 1 minute, THEN I see the little dialog/icon that says it is accessing the database.  So I don't think it is the database access itself, but something that Media Jukebox is doing before actually hitting the database.

Any ideas ?

With 8.0.372, trying only yadb.com, I don't get this behavior.  It works.  WinXP.

Firewall?  Proxy server?  Other software?
