Vista

Before I start reporting a couple of bugs and ask for integration features I wonder what your position is in regard to MC11 and Vista.

- Are you trying to target Vista with version 11?
- Are you planning to write an exclusive mode output module?

I got 11.1.191 to install but there are a couple of issues.

Cheers

Hi,

I am trying again. I am sure some of you have been following the Vista audio discussion on avsforum.

See the first post on page 6

Will Media Center be one of the apps that will provide exclusive mode access?

Media Center 11 still does not properly run in RC1.

Cheers

Media Center provides bit-perfect output today.

When Vista is final, we will evaluate the need and demand for Vista-specific output modules.

Good. Bit perfect on XP requires ASIO in most cases which dramatically limits the cards and sound chips this will work.

Bit perfect playback with Vista exclusive mode works on all Vista compliant drivers.

I hold off with my question till Vista RTM.

Bit perfect playback with Vista exclusive mode works on all Vista compliant drivers.

Again, we're happy to look at this once Vista is a little further along.

For the time being, only cards that can change their clock can be bit-perfect. (or else there's still resampling for CD-audio)  Cards of this quality normally support ASIO nicely.  Vista isn't neutering ASIO is it?

Also, please feel free to direct any information you think would be helpful our way.  (matt at jriver dot com)

Thanks.

Any changes regarding supporting exclusive mode with Vista, now that they've shipped RC2?

BTW, here's a link to a comment on AVSforum from someone who is disappointed that WMP, MCE and iTunes apparently don't support exclusive mode, which would give them bit-perfect playback using their PCs. I think this might be an opportunity for JRiver to jump in and tell these users there is an alternative to MCE, WMP and iTunes for music playback. I was also wondering if we will ever be able to use JRiver Media Center as the audio engine for MCE, instead of WMP? Then I might consider using MCE.
