What's with TV in MC 12?
« on: August 17, 2006, 06:30:46 pm »

Yaobing,
Because the MC12 forum is temporarely closed, I put my post in this forum.
You know about the problems I have with configuring TV in MC12 (I wrote about it in the MC12 forum and emailed you).
Well, I have figured out the solution. I copied the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 11\TV Settings\PreviewMediaType] key and the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 11\TV Settings\TV Channels] key from the registry to the Media Center 12 part of the registry.
And now I can watch TV in MC12 as I already could in MC11.
The only thing that doesn't work yet is that when I click Options in TV Tuner I don't get the Options window with tabs but 'Starting TV' and 'Failed to play TV'.

Thanks for posting the follow-up.

I was going to suggest that work-around, but did not do it because I wanted to find the reason for the crash. Anyway, I am glad you did it. It shows that crash is likely in the displaying the Options dialog.

So now the only question to answer is why the Options dialog does not appear when I click on it.

Right. And it is puzzling because there has not been any significant change, especially in the Options dialog.

Do you have the same problem or is it just me?
Did you uninstall MC11 or do you have MC12 installed beside MC 11 as I do?

I did not uninstall MC11.1. Both 11 and 12 work correctly.

Maybe it is important to tell you that I run MC12 on a second monitor.
But when I run MC11 on that monitor all goes well, so that shouldn't be the problem. When I click 'Options' in 'TV Tuner' in MC11 'Starting TV' appears and then the TV configuration window as it should be.
In MC12 however when I click 'Options' in 'TV Tuner' 'Starting TV' appears and then 'Failed to play TV'.
