Satellite Radio Plug-in ?
« on: August 19, 2006, 05:18:57 pm »

I'm an XM subscriber, and use a Yahoo Widget to listen to the stations when at work.  I've been wondering recently if there is any chance that we will get native support for satellite (XM or Sirius) radio, or if someone has ever thought about constructing a plug-in for that purpose ?  Would anyone else be interested in this ?

I would love to see something along these lines also - albeit for Sirius Radio.  I am now trying (without success) to write a VB program to remote control my Sirius by IR.  I formerly used CDJ / Slinke for this but so not wish to have to run CDJ in the background just for Sirius radio control through the house.

I doubt you will see one anytime in the near future.

King,

Will we not see one in the near future because it's a low-priority item (which is completely understandable), because it's very difficult to do or because of some sort of legal issue with streaming satellite signals ?

1.  We don't see a lot of demand.
2.  We probably can't get any help from Sirus or XM.  We've talked to both.
3.  Other Internet-based solutions provide similar functionality
4.  Time
5.  Money

It's on the list of things that would be nice to do, but we don't get much done from that list.
