Love the new EXIF tagging!!!!
« on: August 21, 2006, 07:46:26 am »

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT !!!!

Now, I noticed a few buggy things ... what is BAD PIXELS ? I've got LOTS of files with all sorts of file issues that I threw at it ... nothing .. bad pixels was never populated!

Also, what version of EXIF tagging is this?  Any change for IPTC tagging? (Someone WILL ask for it, I dont use it, but its bound to come up)

How are you determining Focal Length?   It seems to be varying for the same camera (typically close enough for gand grenades, but cameras are standard -- Canon DReb = 1.6x -- Why it is all over the board?)

Second Note:

Missing EXIF Tags:  Photographer, Flash MODE, Camera Exposure Mode (for cams with Underwater, Auto, Portrait, etc etc settings).

Can the FLASH data be more specific that 1,0 ? Flash Fired, Manual, Auto, First-Curtain Flash, etc ?

Perhaps the ability to create custom fields from existing EXIF data in the file - Is this possible?

Thanks,
Drosoph

Drosoph --

I think YOU have to set Bad Pixels.  Do a search on it here in Forum 12, I think there was some mention recently on how this works.

MC is just reading EXIF, not calculating anything.  The focal length indicates what was actually shot based on the position of your zoom.  The camera set it and MC is just reading it.

I posted some on EXIF too:

I agree about getting more EXIF fields in.

IPTC reading and writing is supported in MC 12 for JPEG files.

So this means that any tagging changes made in MC or Adobe Bridge will be seen by each other?

That's good news.

This is only true if IPTC tags were created by another program?  I didn't think MC12 was creating new IPTC tags based on MC tags, right?

MC saves IPTC tags to any JPEG it tags.
