Passing Tags to an external encoder
« on: October 04, 2006, 12:59:42 pm »

Hello,

I am trying to convert my ape files to m4a aac files.  I am able to convert the files using the external encoder but I loose all of my tag information (which was expected).  I'm wondering if there is a way to pass the tag information to the external encoder so I can encode and tag the files at once.

Something like:
neroAacEnc.exe -q 0.45 -if %IN -of %OUT && neroAacTag.exe -meta:artist=[insert artist tag from MC here] %OUT

Is there a way to do this with the external encoder dialog?
Thanks,
B

old thread, but i think it deserves a bump.

More and more DAPs support AAC now - not just the iPod.

Zune, Sony, Samsung, Cowon, Sandisk, etc all support AAC. These are very popular players so it would make sense for J River to be proactive about AAC.

For me, all I really need is on-the-fly conversion when transferring to my DAP. this is currently possible using the external encoder plugin (with Nero or iTunesEncode), but none of the tags get passed. if J River, could just rework the external encoder plugin so that it could pass tags to the external encoder, we would be happy campers.

That's a request you might want to post on the MC12 forum as MC11 development is over.
