We now have a small amount of statistical info on YADB usage. You can get to it through the home page or http://www.yadb.com/stats.html

Enjoy,

>> There are now 636447 CDs in the database
>> The success rate is 59.30 %
I wonder what the Success Rate is of Gracenote CDDB And FreeDB

Why Not a Top 40?

On a Important realted note Lance Bass is being replaced with a Cargo Trunk.

Succes rate with cddb must be  more ,cause i upload infos using cddb for cds not on YADB.

Look like people do not upload that much, cause i am behind a great % of the 354 uploads.

I know Gracenote has a lot more CDs, but the percentage suprised me as well. I think that maybe the bug fix I did towards the end of last week had a lot to do with it (it wasn't recognizing some), but even so the number isn't climbing. I know that a lot more than 55% of my CDs are recognized.

There are two top 10s (instead of a top 40). An all time, and a weekly (reset sunday night at midnight).

I rip some non-music cd's (books) and forget to turn off the db-lookup. Also some national cd's. This may explain some of the discrepancy

There is an almost AMAZING 100% result with indee music.
I mean even the indee-indee underground indee music.

May has something to do with the king of people using FreeDB and softwares using it.
As you may have see, there is a lot of german records .Germany is the kiingdom of 'alternative' computer.Linux,Netscape and all indee softwares[they create a lot of it].I am sure that a lot of people use FreeDB in Germany

Another possibility is that CDs with international chars cannot be returned, this may be a large portion. I'll be working on fixing that problem later today (if things go well), so it may go up.

So far, YADB is ok for being a new CD DataBase. It is getting better. Heck, last night it had the listings for an Eric Mingus CD. Last time I checked CDDB (year ago when I bought it), they didn't have it.

It would be neat to have a statistic showing what CD entries are currently being searched and 10 newest CD entries.
