question re using expression in "name" property
« on: October 29, 2006, 07:04:16 am »

Can one use an expression (e.g. [Album] - [Track #]) to fill in the "name" properties of a set of tracks?  It doesn't seem to work when I try it.

Thanks!

you can do what you're asking quite easily, but, are you sure?

wouldn't you rather have the track name in the [name] field?

If you offer up some more detail about what you want, and why, you'll get the right answer, first time.

Is the album and track number info present in the filenames and/or the file path?

I wish -- in some cases I'm using commercial ripping services, or MP3 files from the Internet, that have what I would consider to be random crap in the name fields.  Right now I'm just copying the Track # into the Name field but I'd rather be able to use an expression to build out the Name more completely.

When I get done with it, it is :-).  But sometimes not when I start.

Thanks...
