Performance of Theater View (TV)
« on: November 02, 2006, 04:53:12 am »

Back from holiday i must recognize, that my MC12 has expired in the meantime. No problem, i would like to update my MC11 but...
3 weeks ago, i had some problems with the animations in TV. My old HTPC is not powerful enough to handle theese animations in an acceptable way. This is really a "no go" for me, therefore i asked to make the animations switchable.
I did not find any information if something has changed. Do i have to invest 20 USD to check this out or can someone please tell me something about his experiences with a "low power" HTPC and TV?

Thanks Uwe

Hi.

No the animations are not switchable. I too cannot run it on one of my older PCs but a much needed upgrade fixed that!  ;D

What are the specs of your PC? Is a GPU upgrade a possibility for you?

It's a 633 MHz / 256 MB Book-PC
Strong enough for MC9-MC11 and MC12.085(This was the version without animation)
I have to check if there is a free PCI-Slot for a GPU. Do you think that helps?

What did you do?

It might but it will be tough getting a descent PCI based graphics card these days. If it has an AGP slot you may be in business.

What did you do?

Well I actually trashed my system and started again. The MC12 upgrade gave me an excuse to do so but it won't be an answer for everyone.  I think the minimum system requirements for running MC12 Theater View will need to be revised if it hasn't already.

I think i will try to get a PCI Card. It's a pity that i've to change this PC only for some moving cubes... I only use this PC for playing music.
