Shows Multiple Albums when there is only 1
« on: November 06, 2006, 02:20:32 pm »

When I view my albums via Album Art, many of my albums are in stacks when there is only 1 album.

I am guessing that MC12 thinks that there is multiple albums, but there is only 1, so there shouldn't be a stack at all.

The album names are identical.

Any ideas?

When you say Album Art, are you referring to the Album Tile view?  Do you have different album art for songs in that album?  Try and make sure that all songs have the same album art.

Yes, Album Tile View.

All the songs in the album have the same album art embedded in the mp3.

Can you post a screen shot?  When the stack rotates the Album art, is it showing the exact same thumbnails?

You might want right click on a file -> Image -> Copy to clipboard, and then right click the entire album -> Image -> Paste from clipboard.

For the ones that show up as stacks..

- Is the Album Artist the same for these CDs of the multiple CD compil ?
- Is it the exact same cover art used for the multiple CDs of the same compil ?

Just wanted to post that I have the same problem and have since they introduced this feature.

Same artist, same art, same album, same album artist but it shows a fan.

It drives me a little crazy but i had given up trying to solve it...

I've been playing with it for about 1 hour and can't duplicate the problem.  Everything appears fine on my PC.

I'm using MC 12.0.107 with XP.

Maybe my system is too clean to pick it up.  I have cover art for 100% of my tracks (even if I had to make up my own), all of my cover art is embedded in the files (I know that for sure), no album has tracks with mixed cover art (I know that for sure).

If someone can identify any pattern, I will try some more to duplicate from here.

RiderFan and SuperRabbit0,

Your library information causes this, one way or another.

The following would help in pinpointing the exact cause:

Use the "thumbnails on top and details on bottom" view mode. Select one of these mysterious thumbnail stacks. Make a playlist of all tracks that are in the bottom list.

If you have many albums that show stacks when you think that shouldn't happen select the album that has the least amount of tracks.

Export the playlist in MPL format. (Select the playlist and do: File > Export Playlist...)

Open the .mpl file in Notepad and copy-paste the text into your reply.

I will do ask you ask later today or tommorrow.

Also, I use Media Center on my HTPC and I connect to it from my work PC via Library Server.

My work PC (client) shows 5 or 6 stacks on many artists with 1 album. My HTPC (server) does not show multiple stacks on the same files, only 1 as it should.

I think something may be happening to the library when it connects via library server.

I was seeing this as well. The issue on my end was a compilation album. MC didn't use "assorted" as I asked when renaming the files automatically. I was having problems getting the cover art for it, when I noticed that the Album Artist (auto) field was the same as the Artist field; a different artist for each track. When I modified the Album Artist field to 'Assorted' and the Album Artist (auto) field picked that up, presto... just one album displaying in the Albums view.

Next build should fix this:
Changed: Reworked how stacks of audio images are generated so that stack images are broken on album boundaries instead of image boundaries. (this fixes some library server stack issues)

Thanks and let us know what you find.

Does this work in a situation when an album has more than one cover art image?

I explained that here: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=37002.msg252910#msg252910

A great feature would be to rotate a slide-show of images from Album folder in the Library tile without having the images in the actual list.
