How do I stop MC from verifying files exist?
« on: November 08, 2006, 05:30:43 pm »

I am having a serious problem with MC wanting to verify every file in a list to see if it exists or is available, but I use a lot of network drives.  (DB = 385,000 files, couple TBs)   Each time I go to IMAGES or VIDEO it pretty much locks up.

Audio isnt TOO bad, but when it starts doing to Cover Art views, its a killer ... i guess it does a verify or something on the embedded cover art?

Anywho, I want it to stop verifying that files exist in a view because it takes WAY too long to view my database with it constantly looking all over my network for files.

Any way to do that?  Does this make sense?

Are you using auto import?  Check under Options/Library and Folders.

Are you using the latest build?

Or:

"tools/opotions/tree & view/advanced/display missing file image in lists (slow on network drives)."

Wow, you gotta be kidding me, I've used this thing for HOW MANY YEARS?  I've looked through every option there, but somehow i just missed that one ... Well, I'll see how she performs with it UNchecked!  Thanks JGreen!

OK, so jgreen is 1 and 2 today.  I'm 0 and 4, I think.

I believe that option was added recently.

Yeah, I think it's been there since you started the company, JimH.  I had the same question some time ago and Marko was kind enough to point it out for me.
