5.1 JRSS 2.0 (tm) output is not good for stereo
« on: November 23, 2006, 08:10:45 am »

Hi, I found that J River can't upmix stereo to 5.1 in clone mode to make front and rear sound identical. Only 5.1 JRSS 2.0 mode with its surround-sounding (like echo) rear is available when playing stereo files.

Can anyone help me?
Is there any way to play stereo through 5.1 in clone mode (without any surround)?

Because I want to hear a multiple stereo-pairs but not surround.

Another question:
4.0 JRSS 2.0 (tm) - a true 2x2 channels, isn't it? It does not destroy stereo, or does? Or it also adds surround effects like 5.1?

P.S. I have a hardware capable 5.1 stereo upmix in clone mode (in my Revolution 5.1 through X2, X3 modes), but this modes is not working through ASIO. 6 channel ASIO stream is supported, but upmixing 2 channel ASIO to 6 channel ASIO by my soundcard drivers is not possible. So only software upmixing algorithm (like JRSS 2.0) can help me to pass 6-ch (4-ch) upmixed ASIO stream to soundcard.

Tonight's build of Media Center 12 (now in public beta) will contain these changes:

1. NEW: JRSS surround sound processing is optional when converting 2 channel audio to 4 or 5.1 channel audio.
2. NEW: Subwoofer cutoff frequency is customizable when converting 2 channel audio to 5.1 sound.
