Help with burning MP3's Directly to CD
« on: June 06, 2003, 08:20:10 pm »

I'm going to have to format my harddrive soon to upgrade to XP.  I really don't want to lose all the music I have on there, and hope to burn big lumps of MP3's directly to a cd without decoding them to a WAV file.  Is this possible?  And, how do I go about it?  I tried burning as data but that doesn't seem to work.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

i just reinstalled windows XP and let it reformat my 200gig drive into 2 drives, and i did not lose anything that was on it.

maybe because I had plentry of room on it.

using a USB drive i think would be better and cheeper depending on how many disks your going to use and how long it will take you using CD-Roms

i would prefer not to waist my time with CD's

The thing is...We're not talking about a whole lot of music here.  I've only got maybe 2 gigs of mp3's on there.  When I install XP I am going to end up partitioning my hd, but at present it's internal, and the only one I've got.

i burn data cd's of my mp3's with mj8 all the time. for some reason mj8 will not show anything on the disc. but it plays in my car's mp3 decoding cd player just fine.

you should have software that came with your drive that will burn "true" data discs that will be able to be copied back to your hard drive later. that would be my suggestion.

Mj8 makes discs that can be "played" in a decoding device, but i've had no luck doing anything "with" the mp3 files on the discs.

Hope this helps... and i wish i had a better answer.
