MJ 8.0.336 problems on XP
« on: September 05, 2002, 06:40:06 am »

When I insert "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" Soundtrack and try to play using MJ I get a system hang on XP and I have to power cycle my PC! Not Good!

This CD plays with Windows Media player and has been encoded using the same, however, I prefer MJ so wanted to re-encode but no can do. Out of 30-odd CD's this is the only one causing problems.

Several Issues:

1) Why such a spectacular crash in the windows environment?

2) Whilst in this condition I cannot kill it using Task Manager. Why?

3) Why does not MJ, even in this condition, yield to other apps? My system becomes painfully slow.

4) When I manage to invoke a system shutdown even Windows cannot kill the process, hence the need to power cycle. Why? I have left the system for several hours to see if it will catch-up but to no avail!

Many thanks

Jeremy

I don't know why you're having the original problem, but the lockup and failure to respond are OS and/or hardware issues.

If you made the CD with Windows Media Player, it may be protected by the "personal security" in WMP.
