Capture video image

When I play a mpeg file I can right click on the video and capture a frame to use as an image. When I play other types of files, this command is not available. Is there another way of doing this for those files where this command is not available?

Two possibilities:
1. If a video is being played in Quicktime or Real engine, you can not capture.
2. In DirectShow playback, sometimes you must pause the video before you can capture.
