Media Server Connection Problem
« on: December 02, 2006, 11:54:20 am »

I am trying to run Media Server and connect a couple of PCs in my local network.  My file server is running Window Server 2000 and has MC loaded as well as all my media files.  I started Media Server and Library Server just fine.  If I am on the same machine running Media Server, it finds the server and loads the library okay.  On the other machines, it finds the server but then I get the following error message:

Failed to connect to a server

Reason: Server Error
URL: http://192.168.1.152:80/GetLibrary

The other machines are running WinXP Home.  Does anyone have any ideas?

My system setup for the client machine is given below...

This is probably a firewall issue or a routing configuration issue.  The port you're using must be open on both PC's in both directions.

The version of MC needs to be identical on both PC's, too.

The fact that the OS is different won't matter.
