Firefox problem with the forum
« on: December 08, 2006, 11:22:56 am »

Since today I have strange problem with the forum:
  • Using Firefox, the forums pages have lost all styles,
  • Still with Firefox, I'm unable to access the majority of forum functions (posting, profile, etc...)
  • If I access the interact forum using IE instead of Firefox, it seems to work but I doesn't see the MC12 beta topic anymore (although I'm a registered MC12 user)

Could sombody help me please?

Forum appears like this using firefox:

The MC12 forum is not currently available to "new" forum members (though JimH has not specified what constitutes "new" as it can lead to people "gaming the system").  This is discussed over here.

JimH has stated today that this will end very shortly though so hold tight.

I understand....

Frankly, though, the current builds (just the last 2-3 or so) have been fairly flaky for me.  Might be best to stick with what you have if you have something earlier than build 124!!  Hold tight though... When Jim says soon, it usually means really soon.

Unfortunately I managed to install .125 so now I cannot select multiple items and rightclick... and I didnt save the previous exe file as the updates were so regular there didnt seem to be any point to it.

SMF default or Forum default??

I'v switched to  the SMF default theme, same result..

But it's clear that the problem is specific to my configuration: I've just installed firefox on a  vmware virtual machine and this instance show the forum with all the bell and whistles.

Very very strange...

More information about this issue: the forum sends wap formatted (wml) contents when I use firefox,
here's the head of the page source:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE wml PUBLIC "-//WAPFORUM//DTD WML 1.1//EN" "http://www.wapforum.org/DTD/wml_1.1.xml">

Problem Solved!!!  :)

For an unknown reason, the value of the Firefox configuration variable of "network.http.accept.default"  had been changed to be:

text/xml,application/xml,application/xhtml+xml,text/html;q=0.9,...
...text/plain;q=0.8,image/png,*/*;q=0.5,text/vnd.wap.wml;q=0.6

I have reset it's value using firefox builtin config editor and the forum is again fully styled.
